Will pass alone what I have read in other forums. I have never used it but since you are not getting any responces I I will first start with ebay and work my way around the internet for the best deal. It will definately be a worthy investment.
A bit' pricey for me knowing all the countless time and labor I will be spending converting all my film to digital. I've seen the Nikon Coolscan at work first hand. So, a flatbed scanner is not a necessity nor would it be in my interest. I didn't realize the dust problem playing an important factor, especially realizing now that all my 35mm films are stored in carton shoe boxes. I do intend to spend alot of time and energy archiving all my 35 mm films to digital. If it is important to you to have a flatbed scanner of high quality that can do good film scans then this is the only current option. That is a big statement but I repeat it to emphasize the time requirments of scanning 35mm.īack to your original question. Nikon has a product called digital ice that does a good job at solving the problem and one site I read the professional photographer flat out said the Nikon was worth the extra $600 over the Minolta just because of the software. It is worthwhile to me, but I can spend 15 or more minutes per picture on an average 35mm image and have spent as long as 4 hours to perfect an image that was very important to me.ĭust is the big problem. Be advised that the scans are slow and a lot of work. I do a lot of scanning with a minolta scanner and have used the Nikons. Prior to this the quick answer would be to buy a dedicated film scanner because all flat bed scanners did poor work. The Epson is the first flatbed scanner that produces good results with film.
